Separate Apps or One Platform for Aircraft Management?
There's no universal answer to "separate apps vs. one platform for aircraft management." There's a cutoff based on how many tails you operate and how many people touch them.
1. When separate apps still win
- You fly one aircraft, by yourself, occasionally. A maintenance app, a flight-tracking app, and a notes app are fine.
- Your A&P or club already requires a maintenance product (CAMP, FlightDocs, Trax). Don't fight that.
- You're a renter. Most management platforms aren't designed for you anyway.
2. When one platform wins decisively
Two or more tails. Two or more people who need to update records. Any kind of cost-sharing or partnership. Any time someone's reservation depends on someone else's maintenance status. The moment data needs to flow between two of those workflows, point tools become a job.
3. The cost of fragmentation
Every tool is one more login, one more vendor, and one more thing that breaks at 9pm on a Friday. The right platform is the one that leaves the fewest other tools running alongside it.
