A member organization that owns or leases aircraft for shared use, typically funded by monthly dues plus hourly rates.
In practice
Clubs scale the partnership idea past the point where everyone knows everyone: dues cover fixed costs, hourly rates cover flying costs, and bylaws plus a board replace handshakes. The rule-of-thumb capacity is 8-12 members per airplane - fewer and dues run high, more and Saturday mornings become a lottery. The treasurer role is where clubs most often break down, because dues, metering, and statements are endless manual work.
