Scanning parts and printing labels

There is no universal barcode for aircraft parts, so Resyrv lets each part carry the codes your shop actually sees, and prints labels for the ones that have none.

Scanning

The Parts page has a scan field. A handheld USB or Bluetooth scanner works like a keyboard: it types the code and presses Enter, and Resyrv opens that part. You can also type a code by hand and press Enter.

In Chrome and on Android, a Scan with camera button appears next to the field and reads codes with the phone or tablet camera. On an iPhone there is no camera scanning yet; use the field.

A scan looks for an exact match: first against the codes attached to parts, then against part numbers. It is not a search, so a partial code finds nothing.

Attaching codes to a part

Open a part and use Scannable codes. Scan or type a code, add a label if it helps, such as the supplier's name, and choose Add code. A part can carry as many codes as you like: the maker's barcode, a second supplier's, or your own label.

A code can belong to only one part. If it is already on another part, Resyrv tells you which one.

When you scan a code nothing carries, Resyrv asks which part it belongs to. Pick the part and choose Attach code, and the next scan finds it.

Printing labels

From a part's row menu, Print label opens a label with a QR code, the part number in large type, the part name and the shelf location. The QR code holds the part's first scannable code, or its part number if it has none, so scanning the label finds the part.

Print bin label appears when the part has a location. It prints the location name in large type with a QR code for the bin.

Labels print through your browser's print window on whatever printer you choose. Resyrv does not drive label printers directly.
