Run a Lesson from Booking to Billing

A lesson puts the student, the instructor, and the aircraft on one reservation. This guide books a dual lesson and gets the two signatures. Then it dispatches the lesson. Last, it returns the lesson, with the instruction time billed and acknowledged.

Before you start

If your organization turned signatures on, the student and the instructor must each have a signature PIN. The setting is the Signatures rule under Settings, then Gates & Compliance. It is off until a person turns it on.
The booking form shows only the instructors who are available for the selected time.
If the student has an active training enrollment, you can link the lesson to it when you book. The flight then goes into the training record of the student.

Step 1 - Book the lesson

Open Schedule. Click Add reservation. When the form asks "What do you want to reserve?", select Lesson.
Select the lesson type, the aircraft, the instructor, and the student.
If you want, link a training enrollment, hold a classroom, and set the pre-brief and post-brief minutes.
If you link an enrollment, you must fill in Lesson template. Select the syllabus lesson for this booking.
Set the times. Click Review & book.

The review shows the price of the three parts of the lesson: the aircraft time, the CFI instruction, and the ground instruction.

Step 2 - Get the two signatures

Do this step only if your organization turned signatures on. If signatures are off, there is nothing to sign. Go directly to Step 3.

Open the reservation. A dual lesson can require two signatures before dispatch: the signature of the student and the signature of the instructor. The authorization section shows that each missing signature blocks dispatch.

Click Sign. The student signs first, with the student's own PIN.
The dialog then goes to the instructor. The instructor types the instructor's own PIN.

Step 3 - Dispatch the lesson

Dispatch for a lesson is the same as dispatch for a rental. Resyrv does the readiness checks again, and the pilot verifies the meters before the engine starts. The header shows the two names. The lesson goes out under the student and the instructor together.

Step 4 - Return with instruction time

For a lesson, the return wizard has one more section: instruction time. Resyrv fills in the instructor flight time from the meter difference. You can change this value. You enter the ground instruction time next to it.

If your organization has signatures on, the instructor acknowledges the flight and ground instruction charges with the instructor's PIN. The instructor does this before the charges post.

Enter the ending meter readings. Then enter the instruction times.
If signatures are on, tell the instructor to acknowledge the charges with the instructor's PIN.
Click Return & post. Then settle up. The student pays now or later. Each charge shows on a separate line.
