Locations, Timezones, and Facilities

Locations are the airfields that you operate from. Each aircraft has a home base, and each member has a list of authorized locations. Facilities let you book rooms together with aircraft.

Add a location

Locations is a separate page in the sidebar. If your organization has a single field, the page name can be Base airport. The page opens on one location. It has a picker to go to the other locations, and an Add location button.

A location has a name, airport identifier, timezone, and address. One location is the default location of the organization. If your group has only one base, you do not have to do more with locations.

Location timezone

The schedule uses the timezone of the location. Each reservation shows in the local time of the field. The time does not change with the place of the viewer or the settings of their computer. For example, an owner who looks at the calendar from a hotel three timezones away sees the same time as the front desk. When you select a street address, Resyrv adds the timezone for you. If a location does not have a timezone yet, admins see a link on the schedule to set it.

Bookable facilities

Each location can show its facilities on its Facility resources tab: classrooms, briefing rooms, conference rooms, and offices. Bookable facilities show on the schedule the same as other resources. Training uses them when a lesson needs a classroom together with the aircraft.

Aircraft home base

Each aircraft has a home location. The scheduler and aircraft pickers show only aircraft based at the locations that a member is authorized for.

Authorized locations for members

Each member has a list of authorized locations. Usually, new members get the default location. When a member gets approval to operate from other fields, add those locations.

Move an aircraft to a different field

If you change the home location of an aircraft, future bookings at the old base can stay there without the aircraft. Resyrv asks what to do with these bookings. You can move them with the aircraft to the new location (the default), assign them to a different aircraft that stays at the old base, or cancel them.

If you cancel them, Resyrv automatically waives any late-cancellation fees, because the organization caused the move. Before Resyrv changes anything, you see a preview of each affected reservation. Resyrv never changes a flight that is dispatched and not yet returned.

Archive a location

To close a field, archive its location. The location is then not in pickers, but it keeps its history. You can restore it later if you return to the field. Before you archive it, assign its aircraft and members to a different location.
